French reporter asking why Kenney won’t follow the advice of the hundreds of doctors who wrote to him.
Kenney replies that we have to have the will of Albertans to follow advice and they won’t want to have restrictions for ‘months and months’. The ‘circuit-breaker’ suggestion was for 2 weeks.
He said we have been consulting our own experts about what to do.
More detail (after listening again). Kenney says (in French) ‘We want to communicate the importance of following the rules. If we don’t see a dec,one or if we see an increase that threatens the capacity of our healthcare system, we’ll have to take supplementary action.’
He adds (and pins this on Dr. Hinshaw) that if we make people feel like the restrictions will go on for months and months, we’ll diminish their acceptance of the rules. They have to have concrete goals for action. He does not explain how what the 400+ doctors wanted was not that.
