English churches were locked & public worship suspended in 1208. This papal interdict lasted for over 6 years! Not a #Covid19 precedent but church leaders need to check their facts. (Thanks to @BirgitteUna & @RevHnatiuk.)

But what matters for religion is its capacity for sacrifice & renunciation. Invoking rights doesn’t reflect well on churches & their leaders. At times like these, serving the common good by lowering risk should be uppermost in our minds.
