Unpopular opinion, thanksgiving is not my favorite holiday...a thread
First of all, I’m coming for the food and most of the time I have to cook it. If I didn’t work the holiday (I almost always did) preparing food for other families, I would STILL have to prepared food for my own.
But wait, couldn’t someone else have done the cooking at home?
Unless they were blood related? Not for my children. You absolutely have no idea how many times my exes mom invited us for some horrible ass meal and my kids said nah mom, if we gotta go to save face, you gotta cook

Ok, so you can just bring a side you say? My kids will eat only the side I bring and draw even more attention to the dry ass turkey & whatever else they deem inedible on the table
So this one time I decided I just could not take it anymore and planned a vacation. My mom insisted on going because why would I leave on a holiday. Then, by some act of dark magic, his parents insisted on going. Worst family vacation and thanksgiving ever
So fast forward some years. The kids have grown up. I’ve ditched the ex. Oh wait. Even got hitched. More on that later. And here comes thanksgiving again. But wait 2020 there’s a global pandemic AND an election year
So now we’re all sitting here after 3/4 of the year of half of America fighting over wearing a mask. Or not. And electing a racist AGAIN or not.

So now basically science is saying for the countries sake, stay home and for your family’s sake stay away but again, a whole bunch of people are mad excited to sit around the table to celebrate the American holiday of thanksgiving
Where pilgrims were welcomed to the “New World” with the gift of a meal and returned the favor with small poc and colonization 
which we completely ignore on the day to watch American football and catch up

So, about the catching up part. Let’s all gather round in our family groups this one day to recap who we voted for or didn’t vote for or better yet! Thanksgiving just is not thanksgiving if you don’t cover all the shit you could have asked all year long

So, no. I’m not preparing meals for anyone this year. I’m not sitting around the table w/my family. Not having the discussion we could have by phone for a holiday we gloss over to make ourselves feel better as Americans. If you do, it’s none of my business #Thanksgiving2020
