Okayyy, let me take my bitterness out for a few minutes and talk about destiel again with you guys. Sounds cool? Alright. What happened on screen two weeks ago?
/Cas/ confessed he had feelings for Dean, which Dean did not reply to in any way, and then died. Still with me?

That was the scene. Which Misha, CW and now Jensen reinforced was Cas’ goodbye scene. At no point were we given canon destiel. We were given the fact Cas is in love with Dean (and has been for a long time).
What we were given (so far) is unrequited destiel.

“But Cami, why would CW dangle the thing in front of our faces and not go through with it?”
As someone that has been around ever since destiel begun being taken seriously by crew/cast (season 8, to be exact), you guys have no idea how hard it was to get just that.

And I am not talking about Jensen, who by the way has no say in the matter, and never did. I am talking about tptb. About directors I will not name fighting fans saying it didn’t exist. About Warner executives saying they would never, because it wasn’t the intention of the show.
Do you understand? People with actual input saying no repeatedly. It was a war zone so big and for so long that I am still in shock at what we got two weeks ago.
“But that’s not enough, lgbt rep should be allowed, spn is problematic, etc”.

Yes, you’re not wrong. SPN has some really ugly issues when it comes to all sorts of representation. A 2005 show in 2020? It’s bound to have issues, I’m not denying that. And it IS unfair that the network has a line, but guys that line was neither one of the characters a year ago
It sucks that getting just Cas was such a power move. There’s a reason Misha is so ridiculously happy about it. But it is what it is, and that’s not the cast’s fault. It’s just how this show was built, how old it is, and what’s expected of it.
To finish, you’re allowed to be upset at no text from Dean’s end. But to have Jensen and Misha openly talk about it, without the network intervening, and be welcoming of all interpretations is SUCH. A. BIG. DEAL in context with everything. Please don’t minimize it.
