I had a very intense conversation regarding sexual orientation. Two of the guys in the conversation have a preference for androgynous or effeminate/ femme males. Both have been questioning their sexual orientation.
Gender is not one of my favorite things. I separate sex and gender these days. When I was young gender and sex were the same things in my mind. Mostly I have been thinking about "How do we perceive gender?", In 2020 individuals are relying on the gender stereotypes.
The reason I bring this up is that both of these gay men have trans partners. One is partnered with a transexual woman and the other is in a relationship with someone that identifies as trans femme.
Both gay men identify as gay men and are homosexuals.

When a gay mans partner transitions his sexual orientation stays the same. Both gay men are what we call bottom verse, they have a preference for femme tops.
At this stage both will admit to having an attraction to trans women and both are now confused by that.

Both are experiencing the question "Am I bisexual?" due to their including trans women in their sexual orientation. Both still feel NO attraction for anyone observed female at birth, including femme or androgynous trans men. They are innately not attracted to females.
What I came away from this is a desire to look at sexual orientation as an attraction based on sex.
Bisexuals are attracted to a persons sex not a gender.
homosexuals are attracted to a persons sex not gender.
heterosexuals are attracted to a persons sex and not gender.

Gender just mucks everything up, where as sex gives clarity in regards to our sexual orientations.
