So as many of you know, my daughter is a physician. She called me late last night around 10:45 pm. She never calls that late unless there’s something wrong. Immediately I asked her “is everything okay?”
Her: no. It’s not. Things are not okay.
Me: well tell mama what’s wrong.

Her: my friend’s dad is a doctor where we work. He was diagnosed with COVID 3 days ago.
Me: that’s awful
Her: this morning he was admitted to the hospital and placed in the ICU.
Me: oh no! Is he doing ok?
Her: no. He died. We heard them call the code blue.

Me: that’s horrific!
Her: yes it’s also infuriating. It’s infuriating because it’s all these damn anti-maskers that he was caring for as a physician that caused his death. My friend was here working. She heard them call a code for her own dad! All because of these idiots!

Her: when I heard them call the code, I got sick to my stomach. My head was spinning. You know I’m a very empathetic person. It felt like it was my dad. I’ve had an awful day. People need to wake & stop being selfish! We are here at the hospital everyday working to save them!

Her: and yet they continue with this BS of “my rights!” Well what about our rights? What about our right to not be infected and DIE because of these a-holes?! Her dad is DEAD because he was taking care of these people! It’s awful. It’s NOT okay.

Me: I agree, sweetie. I know. It’s a cult. I’m sorry that you and especially your friend and her dad went through this. It’s awful.
Her: well I just needed to vent. The baby is crying. I gotta go see about him.
Me: I love you. Stay safe.
Her: I love you too. I’m trying.
