It’s the equivalent of continuing to bang your head against a brick wall, even after your head starts to bleed. It’s obvious that the policy and ideology is insufficient to meet the need. But ideology over logic & reason prevails. Along with human deaths and illness.
Any ideology, regardless of its political origin, is NOT meant to replace observation, logic, responding to reality and informed decision making.

Libertarians REJECT all positive rights. (Positive rights are roughly equivalent to what are known as human rights).
That includes the right to a safe community where all people wear masks and maintain distance. It infringes on libertarians exercising their liberty.

Libertarians REJECT all rights, but the right of non-interference. Freedom to act as you want is the only right recognized by this ideology.

Libertarian ethics do not consider compassion a necessary requirement. Compassion is a choice, and foregoing compassion for others is ethical to libertarians because they reject interconnectedness and interdependence.
This is ideological extremism.

Society is interdependent, as is public health. Our close proximity necessitates interdependence on all other members of society in public health emergencies. This is anathema to libertarian ideology. Meaning, libertarians won’t cave to emotional appeals.
Rigid adherence to extremist ideology is the cause of premiers failure to issue strict mandates to protect public health.

A significant number of people have been indoctrinated with extreme libertarian ideology, & they’ve also been exposed to COVid denial and doubt.

Fostering denial and doubt has been conducted by premiers who have downplayed the seriousness of COVid danger and risk. Likening it to a bad flu.
This has emboldened several who are die hard libertarians to completely ignore public health safety guidelines. Exacerbating COVid.

So this is our current predicament.

So who is perpetuating libertarian beliefs & values?
Far right conservatives (who are really ultra far right libertarians) and
Left libertarians, AKA Anarcho-socialists, who have infiltrated the far left and are influencing policy & values.

Canada, as are most western democracies, is at a political stalemate.
Canadians need to decide once & for all, whether libertarian beliefs and values are to be normalized in Canadian politics.

It’s not a coincidence that fascist ideology aligns so closely with both left and right forms of political extremism.

We choose democratic principles & social interdependence, or we succumb to a regressive period of human existence where strongmen rule, mob justice prevails, & COVid herd immunity is achieved.
