Can we talk about intent & impact? When people are getting critiqued they always say “but my intentions weren’t harmful!”
Think about it this...
In a car accident, nobody’s intent is to hurt anyone. But despite the harmless intent, the impact of the action is still harmful. 1/3

This is the same for actions we do that hurt minority groups. I’m specifically referring to how much SIA is saying “I had good intentions” when being confronted by the autistic community about the blatant ableism her film perpetuates. Not hiring disabled actress, consulting a 2/3

group that is known to be a hate group towards autistic people, and telling actually autistic people she had good intentions.
The impact is there, and it still hurt this large group of people. No matter your intent, your impact hurt people. 3/3
