Our first report finds that England is one of the only OECD countries not providing targeted financial support for low-income students in light of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Although every nation has responded to the crisis differently, globally more support has been offered to disadvantaged students including grants, reduced fees, or material resources such as laptops.
Our second report looks at how universities around the world are working to widen participation. Although the UK is a leader in this area, there is much to be learnt from other countries’ approach to access and student success.

Targeted financial aid and support for wider wellbeing should be made available in England to low-income students, and more must be done to ensure universities are welcoming environments for students of all backgrounds.
