Call me naive, but I think there are warnings from history that taking power away from the people and placing it in the hands of a few super-rich, arrogant, unaccountable men (and they are mainly men) generally doesn't end well. At a time of environmental crisis it is suicidal.
These people are hijacking democracies (witness the Brexit referendum) in order to push through their radical policies.

In addition, anyone who voted Conservative last December was voting to put power into the hands of these people, and to remove it from the possibility of democratic checks and oversight. Effectively, it delivered an anarcho-capitalist coup using the tools of democracy.
Singham's pronouncements about "competition on the merits" (see vid on @bakerstherald article above) is of course bullshit of the first rank, demonstrated by the government's corrupt, non-tendered contract distribution during this crisis. And it's bullshit because: humans.
Moreover it's faith-based bullshit. These are free-market fundamentalists. And like all year-zero thinking, its actual real-world consequences will be human suffering on an enormous scale.
