Apparently Momentum & the left are cultists for defending @jeremycorbyn, and movements actually need fresh ideas and new leadership. Well, thousands of us spent the last half decade campaigning for exactly this, only to be told to check our heads.
The result of this effort is the biggest development of progressive policy for over a lifetime by a political Party, and a new wave of young, diverse and dynamic MPs standing up for their communities and socialist values.
At Momentum we want to build on this to ensure that if a Labour Government does get elected, it’s a Labour Government that actually has solutions to the many crises faced by working class communities today.
But instead we’ve faced a wave of unjust member suspensions and attacks on Jeremy Corbyn (tag). The attacks on Corbyn are about purging the left from the Party, starting at the top. You don’t need to be an expert in the history of the Party to know this.
But we’re not going anywhere. We’re going to defend Corbyn and members wrongly suspended, were going to demand democracy and were going to campaign for the transformative policies that we know the vast majority of members and the public want.
When people want to drive your politics out of the Party and society you don’t back down. You fight. Until they back down.
