They could’ve kept the basic concepts “giant lizard-radiation-city destruction” and then changed literally everything else, go wild, make something with its own identity. It didn’t.

You can write, draw, paint anything you want. There’s no limits to what you’re ALLOWED to do, and different people will find different reasons to have different thoughts on your work. That’s the core of art.

Adaptations probably deserve their own thread, but the point to adapt something, by definition, is “retooling it for a new purpose”.
