THEORY THREAD:
The Lore and History of #ArthdalChronicles

Because I think the writers did some crazy amount of research 🧐
1) The three heavenly objects
We know that the bell, the mirror, and the sword are important relics in AC. Here's the historical background: bronze bells, mirrors, and daggers are often discovered alongside in burial sites of the Bronze Age and Early Iron Age

#ArthdalChronicles
2) The bell
Asa Sin's star bell looks like the actual Korean artifacts... These octagonal star-shaped bells (with bells attached to the eight edges) are often found in pairs and were used during rituals in the Bronze Age #ArthdalChronicles

tbc but in the meantime, look at this stuff: Daggers, bells, and mirror all discovered together. The bells were believed to have been used by shamans for religious rites. All national treasures btw!
Am I the only history nerd here? 🙈

3) The mirror
The mirror hasn't yet made an appearance in AC. But everyone who has watched the Netflix intro may have wondered what this object is? It actually looks a lot like Korean mirrors of the Bronze Age!
(tbc)
#ArthdalChronicles
Bronze mirrors are the preceders of today's glass mirrors. Korean Bronze Age mirrors had a round shape and often a coarse linear design with geometric patterns all over the surface (e.g. stars and suns).
They too symbolized the power to convey the will of God!

3) The mirror (continued)
The object from the AC intro looks like one of the bronze mirros, or not? Most interestingly, in the middle it reflects different places of Arthdal - like a mirror. You can't tell me all that is a coincidence 🧐
#ArthdalChronicles
Side note: That object could also be the byeoldaya (remember the stone disk that held the secret to finding Asa Sin's star bell?) But as I'll elaborate later, I think it makes more sense if it's the mirror b/c of the 8 symbols we can see embedded in the object

4) The sword
There's been lots of talk in AC about bronze, iron, and even steel swords, but what kind of sword could the Sword of the prophecy be? Looking at Korean swords of the Bronze age and early Iron age, here are some assumptions
#ArthdalChronicles
Those bronze swords discovered together with mirrors and bells belong to the so-called Liaoning bronze dagger culture. The slender-shaped Liaoning daggers are also called "Korean bronze daggers" as they were almost solely found in the Korean penisula!
#ArthdalChronicles
The sword (continued)
The Liaoning bronze daggers are also strongly associated with the first kingdom to be founded on the Korean penisula, Gojoseon. As Arthdal Chronicles is based on the Gojoseon myth, it is likely that the Sword is a dagger of this kind!

#ArthdalChronicles
This is assuming that the Sword is an old artifact. With all those iron and steel sword talks in AC, there's also the possibilty that the Sword is meant to be the product of the newest forging skills of that time - like the "Fruit of Hae Detu" maybe?

#ArthdalChronicles
5) The myth of the three heavenly objects

Yes, the myth exists in reality!

The heavenly objects "Cheonbuin" (they are called the same in AC!) are part of the Tangun myth which I will return to at a later time in more detail.
(tbc)

#ArthdalChronicles
In the Korean myth, the heavenly objects are the three objects that the god Hwanin gave his son Hwanung to use to rule the human world. In ancient society, they are commonly known as a sword, a bell, and a mirror as symbols of the authority of the ruling class

#ArthdalChronicles
The three heavenly objects (continued)
To conclude, the bell, the mirror, and the sword exist in a Korean myth, but it is also proven historically that bells, mirrors, and swords were important objects that were symbols of power and of the will of gods✨
