While I was listening to @NotoriousB_l_G 10 Commandments I wondered what the 10 VC Commandments are.

/10 Create value. If you don’t know how to be valuable then don’t do it.
/10 Accelerate learning curve. Spend time on how to help the founder and team to learn faster and grow.
/10 Radical honesty. In an appreciative manner, in a way that people still want to go together. (don’t be mean, but don’t sugar coat)
/10 Have your own conviction or go home. If you always run on what other people say, you won’t go far. (you’re no use if you’re swayed easily by those around you)
/10 Positive sum. If you try to figure something out, do it for everyone on the table not just for yourself. Positive sum (no zero sum games) - make the solutions work for all your stakeholders
/10 Wake up for founder success. Not for company success, but founder success. Very often a bigger driver.
/10 Be there for your partners. If you are not a solo investor, do it (help your team grow too). Champion the founder to win (more than you champion the startup)
/10 Always have spare time. Every week keep some calendar space empty because there are always people that come and want to discuss something. Not overloading yourself (for the random asks, and emergencies)
/10 Live. Live your life. Outside of VC
/10 NEVER CROSS THE INTEGRITY BRIDGE (NOT WORTH THE MONEY)
