I’m honestly always so shocked that Latter-day Saints rail against government socialized programs for the poor when quite literally our entire church is a socialized program for the poor
Need food? Call the bishop. Need rent? Call Bishop. Need subsidized therapy? Call Bishop!

Our welfare programs are top notch, & perhaps why Utah has the lowest level of income inequality in the country. Tbh I’m never phased by the Church’s commercial investments because of the sheer scale of our welfare programs

There are many things to critique in the Church but our handling of finances is absolutely commendable
GAs make almost nothing compared w other churches, & our wealth (born of collective trauma & abandonment) & the fact we’ve never had a major financial scandal is astounding tbh
