CW for weight talk (going to thread this)
I have been exercising consistently for almost 6 months now. Weight training and running. From 10-10:30ish today, I ran for 32 mins comfortably and my heart rate is already back to my normal range. Yesterday, I did 3 PBs at the gym.
I stepped on the scales this morning and I weighed 111kgs. I am not tall, so I am still considered to be in "obesity class III"
Now, of course, and this is really important: there is no moral value in exercise. You are not a better person if you do or a bad person if you don't. The way we talk about weight and fitness is terms of morality is just wrong.
But personally, I have found working from not being able to run to running faster and longer than I ever have before to be incredibly rewarding, and has vastly helped my mental health. And I never though I'd be someone who enjoyed lifting weights, but damn it feels good.
So if somebody out there needs a reminder that any body can be a fit body, and that if you want to add more exercise into your life because it's something that is meaningful to you, I hope I can do that. I have a BMI of 42.7. I am fit. These things are not mutually exclusive
On further reflection, saying “any body can be a fit body” was not as inclusive or aware of other people’s limitations as I should have been. I apologize unreservedly for that.
