Watching the video that Letitia Wright shared. 5 minutes in and the guy says "I don't understand vaccines medically, I just don't trust them". Then it descends into the usual conspiracy ramble about 666 and luciferase, and how we can't trust it because... Anti-Christ! 1/13
For the record I think it's OK to question what's injected in us. It's OK to refuse it. I mean, in this instance, I believe it's misguided and selfish, but everyone has the right to choose. What I never get is the faith these people will put in The Bible, but not in science. 2/13
Admittedly, I've not read the scientific papers in depth, but just like these people putting their faith in a work of creative fiction of indeterminate origin, written and rewritten by disparate groups of people, over thousands of years, I'm choosing to put mine in science. 3/13
For me, there's a damn sight more evidence that science has our backs than some aloof, vaporous, deity. Plus, we don't live in a comic book. Real villains don't call themselves "The Masters of Evil", and name their weapons "Satancillin". I mean, that ain't exactly subtle. 4/13
If you want everyone to take your vaccine, you don't give it a name - at least, not on purpose - that draws attention to your evil scheme. I wish they'd just *think* for five seconds, with their brains, and stop reacting with their gut, through some warped, dogmatic, lens. 5/13
Ultimately, all of this has become a political and social crisis. We're so split down the middle now, that people are clinging to positions to reinforce their sense of *good-ness* and self, and will do anything to shore that up. 6/13
It's almost like people have to see themselves as something - something externally imposed upon them, a set of off-the-peg beliefs that doesn't require effort, but will offer a support system and sense of belonging that will get continual reinforcement. 7/13
They're all a super-hero in their own Marvel movie, and anyone not on their team is a Master of Evil, fighting a righteous battle, for God, or freedom, or... whatever. But in reality, they're locked in a cage of narrow, inflexible, utterly rigid, selfish. thinking. 8/13
Not even thinking. Just believing. And so we come back faith, and it worries me that it takes a lot to destroy faith, because it's a complete trust that you're right, over any sort of hard proof. 9/13
So yeah, taking the vaccine is a leap of faith, but so is going on a rollercoaster. So was going to Amsterdam years ago, where I got mugged at knife point. So was getting in the car last year, which got side-swiped by a truck and nearly killed my wife and I. 10/13
So is the treatment my dad's about to get for prostate cancer. I don't know what's in those hormones. He doesn't either. We've just been told he'll get mood swings, and it'll make his nipples hurt! But again, we have faith, because what's the alternative? 11/13
What's the end game with Covid, otherwise? I have more faith that science has my back than God. I'm not holding my breath for Him to swoop in and save my battered career, which I need to support my family. 12/13
And, frankly, I'm willing to take the risk of having side effects - which I believe is a small risk - for the greater good. The alternative as I see it is a risk to the whole world, and that's worth more than I am. Hail Satan! 13/13
