HOW TO THREAD

I get asked a lot about my photo set up so thought I'd share. I honestly think its low tech but a lot of it is down to camera settings.

We have a large pop up light box which is great for big things but a bit much for one mini. I use the black sheet from it 1/4
I use a seperate LED ringlight with adjustable brightness and warmth settings on a tripod. This allows me to control how bright i want my miniature and the light direction too. Usually i take photos through the ringlight, aimed at the miniature. 2/4
How do i prop up my black cloth? Currently using any form of hardback large book. This could be a codex or a battletome. I kid you not. Also top tip, make sure your material has a "velvet/moleskin" feel to it, it absorbs light and won't give you unnecessary glare 3/4
Finally a screen grab of my camera settings. I use my mobile phone (sony xperia xz2) on manual settings. These are my current defaults. Not all phones are the same and this may differ with apple phones so double check.
I admit I do small tweaks in photoshop if i feel the mini has come out too dark or to correct tone but other than that nothing else is doctored.

And that's it!
