I’ve been low carb 11 years but you don’t see me rail against carbs

Why? We are fat & sick as a society because we overcome EVERYTHING except quality protein

Full stop

We are up 800 cals a day since 1960

Mean intake

16% Pro
47% Carbs
35% Fats

Thread👇
Meat consumption is only up a small fraction of that 800 calorie uptick in total energy consumption

This means we are eating almost all of our extra calories in fat and carbs

This is terrible for body composition
We can also see that beef consumption has been steadily declining while generally leaner chicken intake has been climbing, but still total consumption has only increased slightly
Here you can see that we are consuming over 400 cals more a day of veg oil. This is purely added fat, not whole food.

Much of this is likely in the form of highly processed, hyper palatable junk food
(Cdc data showing protein intake is only 15-16%)

IMO, we need to:

Increase Whole Food protein intake

Reduce total intake of energy from carbs/fats (The more you reduce one, the less you need to reduce the other)

I prefer low carb, but it’s not the only way
But my wife thrives higher carb

We are nevertheless both healthy

We both prioritize protein

We both eat Whole Foods

Figure out what you prefer

Want to eat high carb? Can’t be high fat too

Want to go high fat? Can’t also be high carb
Over consume☝️
