Thirty-one years later, and this year we grieved again with the murders of 9 men and 13 women and girls in Nova Scotia at the hands of a man with a history of violence towards his partner.

We grieve, and we remember, but we must also act.
#16Days #endGBV
COVID-19 has created a shadow pandemic by increasing risk factors associated with men’s violence toward women and by reducing women’s contacts and resources both in and outside the home.
Indigenous women, Black women, women of colour, immigrants, transgender women, gender queer and non-binary folks, and those with disabilities are more likely to be targeted with #gbv. So our action must include addressing homophobia, transphobia, ableism, and racism.
Our work on this issue must continue – work toward an action plan to help end gender-based violence in BC, work to ensure new standards for care, better training and accountability for people working in the justice system, more secure funding for sexual assault centres, and more.
