Identification of the pupils who are struggling the most isn’t straightforward. Distress isn’t always acted out.

Even our own children can be masking difficulties. My youngest imploded as a 15yo, with undiagnosed ASD & her world at home turned upside down.
I sat this all of the time, but small changes at school do & did for us make a huge difference. Parents need a point of regular, listening contact. Pupils need down time - adjusted homework demands, a safe base, a sense that teachers understand, one to talk to.
Access arrangements also vital - quiet room & rest breaks.
For our square pegs, school is stressful & exhausting. But we can make it less so.
