United's consistently starting matches poorly is a major concern. However, it's not random. It happens for a reason.
A big part of that reason is OGS constantly rotating the side & tweaking formations which results in different player combinations #MUFC

Solskjaer's starting XI on Saturday was a very idealistic side, done to give rest to important players who needed it. The result was a bunch of players who don't fit perfectly into their roles or together. The results was extremely clunky #MUFC
The benefit of this is it keeps the team fresh in an even more grueling and demanding season. The last two weeks - even against teams that aren't playing in Europe, it was Solskjaer's side that was fresher in the 2nd half helping them secure late wins #MUFC
Keeping players fresh will very much come in handy as the festive period gets going and EVERYONE starts playing a lot of games. The fresher team, the team who can still be running after 60 minutes is going to have a massive advantage. #MUFC
Solskjaer employed this strategy against Newcastle, PSG, and Chelsea in October - but the criticism was he was waiting too long to make changes - against Chelsea it seemed like United ran out of time.
Now he's just making the changes earlier, and United are winning #MUFC

Is he flirting with trouble? Absolutely.
Will this not work one of these weeks?
That's almost guaranteed.
If Solskjaer settled on an XI and played them week in week out we'd see improved consistency, but that would come at a cost. #MUFC

We've seen Solskjaer do this before. Twice. Once when he first took over and post lockdown last season. He had a first choice XI, he picked them every game.
The result was United played beautiful football and were unbeatable. The squad also burned out both times #MUFC

So those Solskjaer's two choices.
Consistency and burnout. Or keep everyone fresh and hope you can overcome those inconsistencies more often than not.
Neither one is an easy choice. That's why you pay a manager big money to make it #MUFC
