--- #Habbo2020, where are we going? ---
I shared my final thoughts on my dutch news forum, and wanted to share them over here as well. Things aren't looking very well to me and want to share and express my worries. This will be a long one, @Habbo
Habbo2020 didn't begin very promising. But for once, we saw an excited development team. Our voice mattered and we saw insane improvements even within the first week of beta, but that changed. But the improvements we saw in the latest weeks? Minor fixes and nothing more.
One thing is clear; Sulake started listening to us. And that is where it ends as well, listening and no action. Sulake has no intentions on lowering tax, so don't keep your hopes up. Sure they're "changing" stuff on that topic, but have they really fixed anything? No
And then I'm not even addressing the part where most of the main features simply aren't implemented or do not work properly at all. What happened Sulake? I attached an overview of what is wrong with #habbo2020, and this is only what came to mind at the time of writing.
I'm sure many of those things will be solved, but at the current rate of development, do not expect it anytime soon. The game is barely playable at this moment - admit it or not.
But this is not what concerns the players right now - we seem more concerned about the tax in #habbo2020 and its impact on agencies, trading, give-away &- fansite subcommunities. Does the donation feature with a 10%-50% tax rate fix this? No
--- This game is not meant for us ---
I've been trying to put myself in Sulake's reasoning for some time now, and can only come to one conclusion: they're really dumb, or this game simply isn't meant for us. We're not the target audience of this new game they're building. We're being used as a tool to populate it.
More than 90% of habbo players only uses the desktop version and there's barely focus on the desktop version? What's that all about, Sulake?
This game is not designed for us. That is what I conclude from their global strategy. But it is more complicated than that. Because through social media, we are being told differently. But is Sulake honest with us? No
Stop telling us the reasons for taxation is because you want to give us more rewards or to discourage illegal activities - it's not true and you everyone knows it and it makes me feel betrayed by your company
So why is Habbo trying to act like they want what's best for us? They obviously need us. This game is totally community driven and they know it but the higher ups might not realize it enough. We keep Habbo alive with the activities we create, and Habbo depends a lot on that.
Habbo wants the best of 2 worlds; a new business model focused on a different target audience & they want to keep the current userbase as well. But will that work? I don't think so. This feels like a middle finger towards the community, we've been running this game for years
I want to clarify that I don't mind #habbo2020 having a different target audience, but I do mind Sulake playing with us like this.
Sulake only thinks about money. A lot of people within Sulake do not and are excited for this community and want this game to be awesome. But the ones in charge of it all - do not. Nothing but respect towards all community managers and the social media team.
The ones in charge, they don't care about the idea behind "Habbo", they do not want to make Habbo a fun game. Normal companies look for a trade-off but Sulake doesn't. This has been clear for years now and I'm dumb for trusting and believing in Sulake in the first weeks of Beta.
This game hasn't been properly maintained for years now, because the ones in charge had and unfortunaly still have, the same wrong mindset which can only push a game closer towards its end.
#Habbo2020 has potential, but not like this.
