If a child says they're trans, they're trans.
It doesn't mean they can't change their mind. There's no one-size-fits-all process for understanding gender. 1/8

Puberty blockers are used in order for that child to make up their mind and explore their identity. It doesn't hurt them. It gives them options. If a child says "I think I might not be my assigned gender" (or however they put it), that's a good enough indicator. 2/8
The rate of regret from transition is less than one percent.
LESS THAN ONE PERCENT OF TRANS FOLK REGRET TRANSITIONING.
Over 99% of trans folk DO NOT REGRET THEIR TRANSITION. And it is life saving. If I hadn't come out as trans, I wouldn't be here today. 3/8

When I was in my early teens, I had a sense that something was "off." Part of me tried to rationalize that it was "just what everyone went through." Another part claimed internally "Well, guess this is the body I was born into, better just deal with it." 4/8
My mental health began deteriorating during puberty and went steadily downhill until this past year. In hindsight, it was probably because my body was doing things that my brain wasn't expecting. I had no idea what was happening. 5/8
I didn't fully comprehend at the time that it had anything to do with Gender, mostly because I lacked the vocabulary to talk about it. Had I known blockers existed as a child, and had I known that gender was mutable, I would have jumped at the chance to take blockers. 6/8
Instead, I have 30 or so years of damage and disfigurement caused by going through the wrong puberty to unravel. I don't blame anyone but societal norms. 7/8
We don't talk enough about what it means to question one's gender. We don't talk enough about that process, or why it's important. We don't talk about gender identity, gender expression, or sexual identity nearly enough.
And many lives can be saved if we start.
