Are we really learning?

We consume so much information from the internet, books, videos, etc.

But what’s the point of consuming all this information if we can’t leverage it?

🧵 I made a thread on what I’ve done to improve the quality of the way I learn👇
I think many of us can relate to this...

I always used to feel like I was consuming all of this information but it would never stick.

I’d forget majority of what I read, watched, or listened to...
This isn’t because there’s something wrong with us or we lack a certain skillset.

It’s because as humans we can only remember so much.

We’re always flooding our minds with new information every second.

Information goes in, information goes out...
A little over 3 months ago I made the shift to using the note taking tool @NotionHQ (free to use)

And it was by far one of the best transitions I’ve made...
The idea is to use this tool to help you store the information you’re learning.

It’s basically like building a database for everything you learn.

Your second brain — 🧠
Here’s a great way to look at it...

Your database is made up of tiny different lego blocks (resources, content, information)...

When it’s time to build a structure (a project, an article, a business) we can start building more efficiently because the blocks are already made
Now, instead of just letting information just slip my mind.

Anything valuable that I learn gets stored into Notion through an intensive note taking process.

This allows me to get into a flow state more easily and often.
For example...

If I was to go start a project or business tomorrow revolving around marketing for arguments sake.

I would already have a ton of assets that I can deploy from my second brain.

Your ideas are already perfectly formed.

As opposed to starting from scratch.
Here’s a few examples inside my second brain:
A few people to follow to learn more about this is @fortelabs & @rroudt

I’ve learned a ton from them and the amazing content they’re producing!
