I receive a lot of messages and see a lot of people struggling so today, I feel I need to write a thread for white genuine active anti-racists.
Expect resistance, violence and denial. I understand it gets a bit much and can affect your wellbeing
& knowing you're doing the right thing is not enough. Being told you're not radical enough hurts. Racism IS violence learning how to fight it IS a painful journey that will take you out if your comfort zone.
Being an anti-racist is not about winning popular contests with black and brown people.
Just remember 1/ black & brown people have been on receiving end of this. Many r still standing (bruised, broken, poor, struggling with self worth, etc but also warriors and soldiers of love),
so you can learn a lot from them, from resilience to strategy. Being an anti-racist is a journey, not a feeling.
2/ the fight is bigger than anything you ever imagined and won't be won in your life time but
you still need to do your bit with black and brown people and amongst you white peers, family and community, for racial inequality with its intrinsic violence to end for future generations.
