Donald Trump bragging about Operation Warp Speed is like a mass murderer bragging about his magnanimity in paying for his victims' funerals.

Except, of course, that Trump did significantly less than that. He merely gave his blessing—anyone would—to incredible work by scientists.

There's not a presidential administration you could imagine—not in your very wildest imagining—that would have done *less* or *worse* than Trump's in handling this pandemic.

Because, yes, even the *least and worst* response would've funded something like an Operation Warp Speed.

And all that said, I agree with those saying that—*from a public health perspective*—Americans need to put vaccines *entirely out of mind* for now. Vaccinations will begin soon, but (1) you likely won't get one for a long while, and (2) actual normalcy is maybe a year-plus away.
