An issue I have, and this is coming from the standpoint of a trans man, is language about and gender identity itself are currently in the middle of such a rapid, large-scale evolution that I don't have a clue what is going on anymore.
And the way I'm finding out about these nuances within identity and the language used herein are through people shouting abuse at people who just... don't know what's going on??? Elliot came out as trans with he/they pronouns, I thought "man" like a lot of people
Then I saw someone screaming at people calling him "a hot man" because that's transphobic against trans NB people, I didn't know y'all existed yesterday, and I found out through people screaming at other people on your behalf.
As always it's very rare that I see Actual Trans People getting mad about this, it's usually allies spitting venom to prove that They Are The Biggest Bestest Ally, but surely educating, then if that fails, branding them with the Bad Person brush is the way?
Of course I understand it's tiring as The Thing having to Explain The Thing Constantly To Ignorant People, but these people aren't The Thing they're explaining, they're getting offended on behalf of trans people and quite frankly making us look like assholes...
Basically, I'm tired, I'm confused, and I would like to subscribe to the Gender Identity and Language Newsletter so I can be informed of when a new aspect is identified, like how botanical scientists can get newsletters about newly discovered plant species and variants...
That said, I'm always open to questions about trans men and being a trans man, I can only give you one branch of this experience, as I've been immensely fortunate in how I've developed and how people have responded, but it's given me the ability to feel comfortable discussing it
