How To Lower Medical Bills

The Steps That Saved Me 50%

//THREAD\\\\
One of the great things about having a baby is YOU’RE HAVING A BABY!

But there is definitely one thing that isn’t great about babies: all the medical bills.

This past Saturday, my wife and I had an unpleasant surprise bill of $1,357.
Our insurance only covered $398, leaving us with the scary sum of $959.

I wouldn’t exactly call that a Christmas miracle.

Instead of just paying the bill, I used my negotiating skills to get a lower price.
Worst case scenario, I knew I could get a 0% interest payment plan which definitely beats paying a lump sum, especially during the holidays.

How did I know that negotiating would work?

Because hospitals want to make money.
Aside from saving lives, it’s a business.

If you decided to default on your payment, they would have to sell the debt to a collection agency for next to nothing.
How did I lower my bill from $959 to $479.50?

> Personalized my greeting
> Used the key phrase “settlement offer”
> Made an initial low but compelling offer
> Kept my options open mentioning a payment plan
