Good Evening, Melrose.
DPH has announced that the City is now classified as a red community, because of our significant increase in Covid-19 cases. You'll find out more about what this means at this link, but I want to emphasize the following:
Covid-19 doesn't care if you are tired of wearing a mask, or if you miss hosting parties. It doesn't care if you want to travel out of the state, or if you fail to cooperate with contact tracers.
It doesn't care if it ruins a family tradition, or if you're only breaking the rules just this once.
Your neighbors care about these things. Your elderly family members care, your children care.
Our frontline healthcare and public safety workers care as hospital beds fill up again. Please think about how your actions have the ability to harm people close to you and people you never met.
This is a resilient, tight knit, caring community. Wearing a mask, practicing social distance, getting tested, and sticking around the people you live with are all ways of showing your community that you care. Together, we will get through this. https://www.cityofmelrose.org/home/news/melrose-categorized-red-community-cases-surge
