all things considered i should’ve realized this earlier but, qi yan’s a villain, or antihero or whatever, like she’s not..an inherently good person. and it’s just now hitting me.
she isn’t a grey character either..she’s fully aware of her actions and she doesn’t feel remorse. like, sometimes she might consider alternative paths for choices she has to make if it affects certain people but she won’t hesitate either way.
like, to me, she loves very destructively. as long as she’s avenging her family, protecting the ones left, including her beloved? nothing else really matters.
and it’s not like she doesn’t do good deeds bc she does but they always seem to come with a price, are a product of a price, or the stepping stones for a future price?? like something has to come from them.
it’s not like she went around killing innocent people all day, but she didn’t care about the greater good either. her thought process was more like, i’m going to fix this mess instead of causing more chaos so that nangong jingnu can rule comfortably....SEE WHAT I MEAN
anyway, some people got what they deserved while others were an unfortunate bystander and a plot piece in her many schemes and they lost their lives bc of it....rip to them, she did what she had to do.
