‼️Dispelling Misconceptions on Syria event, organized by @100facesyrev‼️

Be sure to share within Palestinian/Leftist/other circles that are plagued with misinformation on Syria. No idea why Assadists aren't outed from the greater justice movement (just yet).

See you there!✌🏼 https://twitter.com/100facesyrev/status/1337939228747988995
As an organizer for Syria I've had so many gross confrontations with Assadists & Assad apologists. At a protest in Dec. 2016, when Aleppo was dying, men physically assaulted our groups and yelled at us to "go back to our country" and that "Assad is a doctor and good president."
In April 2017, after the Khan Shaykoun chemical attacks, we had the largest turnout of resettled Syrian families at a protest. They were grieving. They were in mourning.

This nazi came and heckled our group yelling that the chem attacks were STAGED. YELLING AT REFUGEES.
Once at a park, a man approached me and my family ( @alistwittor can vouch) and asked where we were from. We got into it after he started citing Eva Bartlett on how the chemical attacks were orchestrated by “insurgent militias” and staged. This happened all the time in school.
It’s one thing to face this malice from strangers, with whom you share different sources of knowledge and principle. It’s another to face it within your own community. Why are orgs and friends still sharing content from Max Blumenthal & Rania Khalek, Ali Abunimah & RT?
Why were so many Muslims fuming when Qasem Soleimani was killed? Was it because it was an extrajudicial murder & its implications?

Or was it because they saw Iran as an aid of resistance, not the imperial force that it is?

Or was it because they didn’t really know who he was?
This event is an invitation to those who would like to learn how to identify and respond to the major misconceptions that are harming our cause, so deeply. Tune in to learn more about Syria and the Syrian Revolution - not the “civil war”, not the “conflict”, not the “proxy war.”
