2001 Parliament Attack, a thread :
19 years ago on this day, India saw a deadly attack in the heart of this nation. The Indian Parliament was attacked by Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) on 13th December 2001.
Six Delhi Police personnel, two Parliament Security Service personnel and a gardener lost their lives in the attack. Not only this, but due to Pakistan’s assistance to such terror outfits, 2001–02 India–Pakistan standoff took place. 5 of the terrorists were killed.
The terrorists bombarded the building with guns and grenade launchers. Many members of parliament (MPs) and government officials such as the then Home Minister LK Advani and Minister of State for Defence Harin Pathak were still in the building at the time of the attack
More than 100 people, including major politicians were inside the parliament building at the time.

The gunmen drove their vehicle into the car of Vice president Krishan Kant who was also in the building at that time. They got out and started shooting at the guards.
In a 90 second video of Mor Mukut, he remembers his mother because he thought that day was his last “Mummy I love you a lot. It is possible that I die in this attack. The situation is bad. I don’t know why, but despite seeing death right in the face..
I am not afraid. It is difficult to come out alive out of this. There are 6-7 soldiers with us and we are surrounded (by Naxals) from every side.” He is a DD crew member who was just doing his daily job. In another incident Achyuta Nanda Sahu , a journalist was killed.
The faceless journalists were there to gather something relevant for their respective news channels ,for the people to listen to what’s going inside the parliament, never anticipated something like this, that this could be there last day.
In the same year, just a month back, a similar attack was carried out on the assembly of Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, in which 38 people were killed by terrorists.
During investigation, it was found out that Pakistan gave instructions to the gunmen and operations were directly carried out under ISI Pakistan.
