THREAD: Why sacking Arteta NOW is not the answer.
As one of 3.5 Arteta stans left on Twitter, I've come out of my shell to defend my avi, even though public opinion dictates that this gets 2 likes. He won't read this underwater, but Mikel is drowning & needs a lifeguard.

1. QUICK INTRO
Arteta's puzzle for consistently winning matches is made of 3 pieces:
(a) controlling the game & generating attacking situations
(b) converting attacking situations (maximising Goals For)
(c) nullifying the opposition's attacking threat (minimising Goals Against)

In most of Arsenal's matches this season, Arteta has succesfully implemented parts (a) and (c), but not part (b) [the most important part]. But I don't think that is enough to sack the manager if you remove emotion and analyse the reasons behind it.
2. THE SIDE-ISSUES
The handling of Ozil, and the protection of Saliba and other youngsters has increased frustration. But these decisions always split opinion because they have pros & cons. Ultimately, they are side-issues which don't explain why players are missing from 6 yards.

3. THE MAIN ISSUES
We lack confidence and quality in finishing attacking situations. Also, it does not help that we have to spam crosses and cutbacks due to Willock & ESR being our only CAMs (it's useless to talk about Özil without knowing the exact reasons for his exclusion).

4. SACK HIM?
We're 15th, but sacking him does not solve the reasons for our struggles, because the dressing room trusts him. The Emery comparisons are false – Emery lost the dressing room to the point where they mocked his language and downed tools at the end.

5. HOWEVER...
Arteta must leave if results do not urgently improve because the situation with the fanbase and dressing room will become unsustainable and no one will want to come in January.

6. SACKING IS REACTIONARY
We're 12 games in – just signing Bruno was enough to reverse Utd's similar struggles last year. A downturn in short-term results shouldn't be enough to cancel a long-term rebuilding project unless he's lost the dressing room, which he definitely hasn't.

7. SOME OF US HAVE MEMORY LOSS
In August, 90% were saying "I can see what the manager is doing, he needs to be backed"? He was only half-backed – failing to recruit in midfield has cost us and he wouldn't have expected such awful output from the front three e.g. Laca & Willian.

8. CONCLUSION
In summary, sacking Arteta is not necessary yet. Let's see Pepe and Martinelli return – if we score goals, our short-to-medium term results should get back on track. And it should be clear to all of us by now that the Wenger-era areas of the squad need surgery.
