Recruiters won't look at your resume for very long. 6 seconds is the average. While it may sound nice to have nice long paragraphs with lovely conjunctives, it means that the important information takes longer to absorb and may not be read at all. Cut it down.

Split up the information on your resume. A recruiter needs to be able to pick out important information in those 6 seconds and for that to happen, it needs to be spread out over the page and easy to find.

Quantitative information is the best way to prove your skills. Don't say "helped manage costs" say "cut overhead by 20%." It can also help identify your roles in shorter sentences - how many people you managed, or projects you worked on, etc.

A unique design is amazing. But if you are not a good designer, don't attempt to design your own resume. It can make information more difficult to find and absorb. We all know that UX is more important than UI - this applies to resumes too.

Ever read a job description and think "what even is that?" Resumes do the same thing. Before launching into accomplishments, give a brief introduction about your role & company. Just a sentence. You'd be surprised at how common this mistake is!

Put your resume through Grammarly to pick up on grammar mistakes. It's your first impression and it can make a huge difference. Make sure your tenses are correct too. Also, double check to ensure you have no repeated or missing words - happens a lot!
There are other common mistakes you should avoid, like using a terrible email address or repeating the same description for every job you've had. Once you make a CV, make sure you take 48 hours before looking at it again. You'll see things you missed the first time!
