The world is super stressful at the minute and anxiety and depression levels have increased because of the strain from lockdown. We recommend metal-mindfulness as a means to offset some of the pressure. Here’s a thread to explain what to do to achieve metal-mindfulness...
1. Get a quiet, dark, comfortable space;
2. Pick an album to listen to;
3. Put on headphones if possible;
4. PUT YOUR PHONE AWAY;
5. Close your eyes and take slow and deep breaths, in through your nose and out through your mouth;
6. Consciously follow the flow of the music.
Your attention will drift—that’s totally naturally—but as soon as you realise you’ve gone off on thought tangent, bring your focus back to the music and your breathing. Repeat this until the album has finished.

With practice, you’ll find your thoughts will drift less.
Benefits of regular practice: More grounded; less easily triggered by stress points; better appreciation for the chosen music, because you are *actually* listening and the music is a primary concern without distraction—a rare occurrence in the digital age.
If you don’t have time for a full album’s practice, start with a few songs.

With time, you’ll notice music takes on an added immersive dimension. You’ll be surprised by how you discover new sounds on albums you’ve listened to for years. But most importantly, you’ll relax a bit.
