Why?:

Kobe Bryant is one of the Greatest players in NBA History, but people who look at his accolades will see that he only won 1, media voted, Regular Season MVP, which is relatively low. However, there is a case to be made that Kobe was deserving of more MVPs than he got.

Kobe had many historic feats during this Season, like his streak of 4 50+ Point Games, as well as his 10 total 50+ Point Games. Additionally, Kobe averaged 37/6/5 post-All Star Break to make sure the Lakers didn’t fall out of the Playoff picture.

Kobe’s Case for 10:

Though this may not have been one of Kobe’s most statistically dominant years, his value to the Lakers was incredible. Kobe‘s Lakers, even with him facing injuries, were able to secure the First Seed in the loaded West, which had a ridiculous 8 50+ Win Teams.
Kobe’s Case for 10 (Cont.):

Also, Kobe’s Clutchness this season was remarkable, as he hit a total of 6 Game Winners. Had the Lakers lost those 6 Games, they’d have only 51 wins. Kobe’s stats pre-injuries were also great. He averaged 30/6/5 on 48/32/84 splits, through 35 Games. https://twitter.com/kbsgoat/status/1338227437407252484
Kobe’s Case for 10 (Summary):

▫️57 Wins in loaded West
▫️6 Game Winners (Technically 7)

Breakdown:

Kobe Bryant has had many Seasons where he could’ve won MVP, but if I had to arrange the 4 Seasons in terms of the strength of his case for MVP, I would have it as:

▫️2006
▫️2003
▫️2010
▫️2007
Overall:

Kobe Bryant has had multiple great Seasons which could most definitely be considered MVP level, as they were usually quite historic. Even in the Seasons where his Stats didn’t make your jaw drop, Kobe was still doing amazing things that helped the Lakers win.
