childless yuppy talk time. some things are worth spending money on. most "prestige" goods are terrible bullshit that they are trying to trick you into overpaying for, but that is not a universal case.

let's list a few. https://twitter.com/eigenrobot/status/1338574092274823168
kitchen appliances and hand-tools.

DO NOT spend extravagantly on these, but rather, buy in the sweet spot of quality:price. An example might be useful.

a $10 chef's knife is not worth buying. a $500 chef's knife is not worth buying either. a $50 chef's knife definitely is.
cars.

even if you're buying used (and I disagree that you should always buy used, depends on lots of things), you don't want to buy the $2500 junker from craigslist. you probably want a certified pre-owned.
clothes and shoes.

the fashion industry is egregious and while you should not be suckered into paying an extra $200 for a white t-shirt because it's got a Supreme stamp on it, the difference between $25 shirts and $50 shirts is more than 2x value in most cases, ime.
drugs.

don't smoke mids for fucks sake.
health insurance.

LOL JUST KIDDING YOU HAVE NO CHOICE PLEB YOU WILL TAKE WHAT YOU ARE GIVEN AND NOT COMPLAIN
