❗ WARNING: LONG THREAD, but I’ve got something to say about Scott Moe’s #COVID19SK announcement today ❗

The Sask. Party’s approach to the second wave of COVID-19 is chaotic.

Everything is a shifting target. Everything is a half-measure with unclear metrics of success.
Today’s announcement was more of the same: too little, too late. It’s been 9 months since the #COVID19SK pandemic hit our province, and we still have no clear metrics for which decisions are made when, or by who.
People are confused about the most important question we all have: what are we supposed to be doing to keep each other safe, again?
Today’s announcement shows that this government continues to flail.

We have schools closing early while bars and restaurants remain open. Family gatherings are effectively reduced to zero - unless you meet for drinks, or dinner, or rent a hall.
Small businesses get the worst of both worlds: they’re told to stay open, while their customers are told to stay home.

Yet today Scott Moe introduced new retail measures...that don’t come into effect until Christmas Day.
One is left to wonder...if these measures are necessary starting Christmas Day, why aren’t they necessary now -- you know, when most people are out shopping for Christmas presents? 🎁🎁🎁
Scott Moe could have taken real action weeks ago with a targeted circuit-breaker. He could have actually saved Christmas.

Instead, he chose a wait-and-see approach that has led to measures now that are more severe and less effective than they need to be.
We still have hundreds of new cases each day. Our healthcare system is being overwhelmed. We have rising case counts in long-term care -- a dangerous and deadly oversight in today’s announcement.
Because of this government’s delays, today’s new measures will not only fail to bring our numbers down, they will have a long-lasting impact on our quality of life.

Saskatchewan families deserve better than the chaos this government is imposing on us.
