@SGanguly99. Ind vs Aus 1st test Brisbane 2003.
This series is famous among the Indians since we were able to draw our 1st series in Australia. The Adelaide heroics of Dravid, Laxman and Agarkar is well documented. So is Melbourne loss..1⃣
.. for we threw it away after being 2-278 to getting all for 366 but how many of you talk about the Brisbane heist? Aus's record in Brisbane overall was good but against India it was unbeaten 4-0. Pre match analysis gave India some respite considering Aus's less exp attack..2⃣
With experts taking punt on Sachin and Dravid to come good. Experts had already declared failure for @SGanguly99 considering his not so good records against pace and bounce.
----
Aus 323. Ind 3-62
@ImZaheer's 5 wickets meant Aus didn't run away with advantage. @virendersehwag 3⃣
.. played a Sehwagesque innings of 45 but then Ind lost @sachin_rt, then Dravid for 0 and 1. from 1/62 we went to 3/62. Enters the Indian capt. He started with smashing a cover drive and then a cut to point. He took it on his helmet, body as well. 4⃣
Everything was happening when he was at crease. While one thing that Ganguly did in that innings was when he did slash - he slashed hard. There were oohss and aahass as some shots just went over the head of the slips or gully. Bouncers were negotiated...5⃣
by pulls. Ganguly came in prepared. Ind came prepared. He then had a 146 run partnership with @VVSLaxman281 that made sure India get a lead of 86 vital runs that gave India a real shot at winning the test. However, we couldn't but yet managed to save the test.. 6⃣
&make the history. While the Ind team of 2003 was great, the leader led them from the front as well. And thus our first series draw was achieved. Hope you like the small thread. This was indeed best capts knock under testing conditions down under. thank you :)7⃣
One correction:
India played 7 series in Aus before 2003 -
1947/48
1967/68
77/78
91/92
99/00 - were lost by India

1980-81, 85-86 were drawn. So 2003-04 was the 3rd not the 1st.
