The payout was in the billions and betting was still going strong. 5% commission on all of it for the companies.
Why cut off that record making income when they could have, and should have, waited until at least January 6th when Congress meets?

Lets look at the parent company, Flutter Entertainment.

If this is a Deep State entity, and I bet it is (pun intended), then is it possible that there were Deep State players taking the Biden side of the bet knowing that the fix was in for a payout. They would have known the media narrative would be enough to make the call.
With winnings assured, the money kept coming in record amounts. Huge odds on the Trump side ensured money kept coming to match the bets.

Then there is the timing. The DS is in a panic to sell the message that Biden won so having the betting markets showing improving odds for Trump would be a problem. In the hours before betting stopped, Trumps odds went down from 32/1 to 22/1. Not a good look for Biden.
Then there is the imminent threat of President Trump enacting the executive order on foreign interference with the elections. This will seize all assets and accounts of any entity involved. It's possible that the DS needed to move cash in a hurry.
A few billion dollars landing in thousands of small accounts sounds like a plan, who knows?
At the same time they get the satisfaction of ripping off a whole lot of patriots supporting President Trump.
