First of all I will go through the tactics and how Real Sociedad play and then go onto how we should set up to exploit them. Hope you enjoy
Real Sociedad usually set up from minute one in a 4141 with zubimendi cdm, Merino the like box to box type mid and David silva as the free roaming CM. They usually play with Oyarzabal on the Left and Portu on the Right.
Oyarzabal and Portu a lot of time try and cut inside so they can create chances for there striker who is either Isak or Willian Jose but also have the pace and skill to run past players on the wing and get to the bi line to either cross it in or pass it into the path of there ST.
Real Sociedad has been a very creative team since signing David Silva and we need to be careful and not underestimate how good he actually is. Merino is a very important part of the real Sociedad team as he plays as there No.8 which is always important for a team who plays a No.8
Merino Is an intelligent player and has a very good passing ability. His passing is even better because of his vision, if we are not careful he could pass a killer ball to David Silva so he can play in One of there deadly attackers.
Onto there CDM, Zubimendi, 21year old international is a very tenacious defensive player and has a very good work rate which could cause us a lot of problems. Zubimendi will be looking to mark Bruno and our ST out of game and we need to stop that from happening.
The last thing I need to say about real Sociedad before going into how we should setup is that we need to be careful because during the game they sometimes go into a 4-2-3-1 with Merino has the attack DM and Zubimendi as the sitting back DM.
Now onto how Utd should setup

Imo we need to setup like this with Fred as the CDM because heâs Tenacious and Has a good tackle on him, yeah his first touch isnât the best but McTominay would not be able to handle there attack imo, people underestimate who skillful some of there players actually are.
In the defence Ole needs to make sure our LB and RB stay on the wing because if we donât we are gonna get destroyed on the wing because of it. We need our full backs to be on the wing making sure Oyarzabal and Portu donât either cut inside or run to the Bi Line.
As we saw against Leipzig the same happened with Angelino and we canât make that mistake again. In the midfield VDB would add that extra confidence and steadiness into the midfield because of his calm passing under pressure.
Obviously Bruno has to play because heâs the core of team and heâs makes the team play have that creativity we need. Now this might be controversial but imo we need setup up Greenwood and Rashford on the wing but so they switch wings abit during the wing.
Why. Because the Full backs especially Monreal isnât that fast and if we sometimes switch wings they will get confused and Rashford would be able to exploit monreal so much. We could even just start Greenwood LW or even Martial there and Cavani up front and just start Rashford RW
We need to exploit the wings a lot during this game because of the full backs lack of pace but we also need to play through the middle abit aswell so itâs abit unpredictable. We need to be able to play the ball fast aswell, so one touch pass football because there will press us.
