I've been in UK 10 years now and I had given up to the idea that I could have a good pizza in this country. Yesterday I ordered a pizza from a new business with no website, no card machine, just a simple Facebook page with 100 likes. I called the number and...
... the guy on the phone could not speak English. He wasn't Italian either, I reckon Eastern European. I asked how much delivery charge is and he said sometimes he charges it and sometimes he doesn't. I said I will call him later to make the order. He called after hour later...
... to ask me when I would place the order as he didn't have much dough. I asked him how long it would take and he said "I'm baking pizza now for a customer then I deliver and when I come back I will make yours".
So he makes pizza AND delivers!
At that point....
... I was too committed to say no, he sounded like he needed the business although the whole situation was slightly dodgy but funny at the same time! So I ordered 2 pizzas and I said to my husband "let's see how it goes"
He came 20 mins later, he had sellotape on his glasses....
...flour all over him. He didn't charge me delivery. I wasn't expecting him so early so I asked him to hold on a minute while I get the cash. He said OK and turned around as he noticed I was wearing my pjs. When he handed me the pizzas, he said "I know you're Italian"...
...(he probably noticed it as I have quite a strong accent) "I hope you like the pizza, please send me a message on my phone number and let me know if you like it"
I said "I will" :)

It was the best pizza I've had in the UK! The dough was incredible....
... Soft and had air bubbles in it. You could tell straight away it was cooked in a proper pizza oven. You could taste it! I had tears in my eyes! So I immediately sent him a message saying how amazing the pizza was and I left a fantastic review on his small Facebook page!
...I was so happy! I could not believe it! And it you think I wanted to cancel the order because of how dodgy the whole situation was. The fact that he called me on my phone asking when I would make the order was very pushy! He was only trying to sell his amazing pizza! ..
... I can't wait to try all pizzas on his menu! Sorry about the long tweet, I'm just very emotional right now. Might be the pregnancy hormones. If you know me a little, you may know how much I love pizza. And this pizza was very authentic! I cried a little while I was eating it.
