//Today is the International day to end violence against sex workers.

This account may be based on fiction and I am not a sex worker but my intention has always been to make people think about the real world issues that this character’s story brings up.
The trivialization of violence toward sex workers is something I cannot abide. And I have had to block way too many people in this fandom for wishing harm upon one of the very few psychologically-complex sex-worker characters I’ve yet seen in danmei.
Yes Rong Jiu is fictional, he cannot see you wishing harm upon him over being “annoying” and in the way of the main ship, but your friends and followers who work in adult industries and live with the knowledge of their vulnerability can see it.
They can see that you read a story about a trafficked person who is assaulted, denied justice, and forced into the arms of his murderer and you came away with the opinion that he deserves worse.
Real people live with the weight of stigmatization, criminalization, underrepresentation, violence, the threat of death, and a lack of compassion just for the kind of work they do.
Please be kind.

The very least non-sex workers can do is try to use the opportunities presented them to exercise their compassion and understanding.

That is the place of fiction isn’t it? To make the world better by teaching us to see through others’ eyes?
