SEEDLING RAISING BUSINESS.
I've worked with various seedling raising companies and well there's money where you solve a problem.. RIGHT?!! Most farmers fail to attain better germination rates of seeds they sow, hence this is where these companies come in. THREAD

I met @ezra_muinde_ back in 2018 when i was in charge of the company's stand in Nairobi Trade Fair Show. I had great vegetable seedlings for display. Explaining to everyone what plant plugging is in simple terms was the order of the day. I was also distributing fliers and cards
After the show, i realised the number of orders for seedlings were increasing compared to the period i had been there. This was good news. The company was initially on a 1 acre land and as i tweet they've expanded operations to upto 7 acres or more through leasing of land.
I'll cut across how to start and stay in business when it comes to seedling raising. Okay, starting is easy but staying in business and growing profits is where the trick is. I wont mention any of the companies though..kuna siri za ndani ndani nikifichua nakujiwa
.

Seeds are sown on trays using soilless media. Note that everything is purchased at wholesale prices which is an advantage . Trays can be bought second hand(through-away prices) and can be reused upto 20 years. Seed companies provide constant supply of seeds at affordable prices.
In this business, construction of greenhouses and shade houses is probably the highest expense incurred while starting. A greenhouse with proper irrigation systems will put you ahead of the competitors. Crop protection are greatly reduced. Water is necessary for germination.
When it comes to labor, where I used to work employed few people who were devoted. They would be versatile such that anyone can fit across all tasks of the day. This came with better pay. I propagated seeds, packed for customers, received calls for orders and managed data there.
Pricing of each seedling was what kept the company ahead of it's competitors. Once in a while, using my own phone, I'd impersonate as a customer and make enquiries to other seedling raisers. I was not to use the company's line because it would be identified.
