Some 6 weeks ago I decided to collect # #FBPEs. How hard can it be? Very. In the last 30 days I have found & followed 3,120. Of those 1,800 did not follow back within 7 days, so I dropped them. If you are looking for "good" #FBPEs check out my followers. /1
I need to explain... I really appreciated the freedoms we had being part of Europe. I hated losing them. No-one has yet given me concrete evidence of the value of Brexit. Return of Sovereignty is a myth. We've never lost what we had before the EU. We have adopted... /2
... the rules of the EU having agreed with them. We have helped shape them. We pushed back against some where needed and adapted, but we have ruled ourselves. Great thread from @mac_puck who analysed all EU laws passed by OUR Parliament. https://twitter.com/mac_puck/status/1087365512303132672 ... /3
..from 1996 to 2014. The EU influenced 4,514 out of 34,105 laws passed with full agreement. another 72 were disputed by the UK, but eventually accepted. Steve lists all 72.
For example (1/72) 29/03/1996 https://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/ALL/?uri=CELEX:31996L0021 ..... /4

The disputed law...
EU says: Food labels should say if Aspartine is present.
UK says: Nonsense. Bloody red tape! (imagined response)
We accepted it because of links to cancer, headaches and seizures, even Pepsi USA stopped using it by 2015. /5
So, I and my family are gutted. So much business has moved money, income and jobs off shore already. Including politicians and business people who were and are strong advocates of Brexit. /6
I am watching this government with dismay. If the EU was corrupt, our government are taking corruption to a brand new level with their placement of contracts to mates. I support the Good Law project because of it. /7
A few weeks ago I heard that there was already £8,000,000,000 of rich people’s money placed in hedge funds betting against the UK. Betting on a no deal Brexit. By people with influence on the Tories. Well well well. Boris -Deal or No Deal? Any deal now will be pretty poor. /8
I’m NOT collecting FBPE followers as a sort of competition. I would follow all Pro Europeans unreservedly if Twitter allowed me to, but it doesn’t, unless I have a comparable number of followers. /9
I do want to follow people who share the same concerns and thoughts with me. It’s out of a desire for comfort that I and my family and many of my friends are not alone in caring about the state we are in. I have to believe that there are millions who are like minded. /10
By the way, I do also care about the people who have been misled and didn’t understand what they voted for. @jamesob put it nicely “compassion for the conned, contempt for those who con”. Of course the con men continue to ramp up the blame on No Deal or Poor Deal on the EU /11
Again, I am not in a competition to gather followers. I would follow all pro Europeans if Twitter allowed me, but I'm tied to a ratio of 1.1 : 1 of following : followers. /12
If you have FBPE in your profile and don’t follow back, I’m sorry, but I don’t have space for you at the moment. When I do, I will come back. I promise. /13
You can follow @Derek_Starling.
