I wish @nickbilton wrote more. I understand the anger at the system, but this rounds out as sounding bitter to supporters of @Free_Ross like me, and all the others I know, who have raged against the prison injustice system since BEFORE Ross was arrested. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.vanityfair.com/news/2020/12/the-double-standard-of-a-trump-pardon-for-silk-road-founder-ross-ulbricht/amp
We are enraged. It is totally unjust that a man who must feed his family is imprisoned for doing so, especially when socioeconomic circumstances are forcing them to do so. Why be mad at us? We have stood against all of this injustice.
There is no libertarian-only policy when it comes to our disgust at the America's modern day slave labor complex. We are horrified, we have always stood against them. @nickbilton , the article appears to be addressing US. Well here I am, and I can supply you THOUSANDS like me.
Instead of choosing to build that very bridge you say Trump is attempting to build with libertarians by possibly pardoning Ulbricht (which I think is a stretch and seriously condescends us), why not attempt to build a bridge yourself? Yet, the article ends with the smell of fire.
And I loved the article. Actual, genuine rage is a good thing to see. But I feel you overshot this mark. What Lyn Ulbricht has against you is her business, but we LOVE that woman. Perhaps we should be focused on building bridges with you as well.
Its unfortunate that the pig-faced cretin in office is the one we must appeal to, beg to, to get Ross his freedom. But we would beg to him for anyone, and do. I defy you to find a group more committed to prison abolition than the one I can supply.
Overall, while it is a great and well-written (and heartfelt) piece, it is unfortunate that your encounters with my community have been poor. I assure you, we are fighting for prison abolition. Not just for Ross but for that Black father (whose name you unfortunately couldnt get)
Libertarians are at the forefront of the jury nullification conversation. You WANT us as allies, and we want you. Regardless, we will be fighting for everyone. Every victim. I hope you can learn to see that.
