Incidentally, this "GNA" is 100% illegitimate and unconstitutional. It was never elected, never ratified by the only in'ly recognized, democratically elected parliament of #Libya and it expired on 17/12/17. Unlike most expired products, it was never thrown out, thanks to #Turkey.
The "GNA" was UN-brokered. It is not "UN-backed" -unless anyone has information proving otherwise. If you do, please send it my way, as I'd like to add to my cellar of gross UN scandals. The UN is a forum for states, it cannot back a government of any sovereign state. #Libya
Which is why when I see the prefix "UN-backed," I automatically assume on the part of the journalist woeful ignorance of both #Libya and international institutions, or worse, a corrupt editorial decision from above to propagate on behalf of this criminal Islamist proxy.

Yes, @UNSMIL aka UN Special Mission to #Libya is indeed a questionable group. Their behavior does suggest they are implicated in the criminal affairs of the GNA junta and its foreign backers. I have repeatedly asked @UNSMIL if they do in fact "back" the GNA as accused by so many journalists. They have never responded. While UN officials do enjoy immunity and they can and have gotten away with all kinds of crimes including child sex abuse, a scandal is still a scandal.
An 2017 AP report revealed a massive, and astrounding sexual abuse scandal among UN missions running over a decade. No one was jailed.
