I usually don't speak on Sikh issues as there are many others who know better.

But this needs to be highlighted.

Of late, Modi has been meeting Sikhs, visiting Gurudwaras, releasing books on Gurus and using Govt (IRCTC) to amplify his 'special relationship' with Sikhs. (1/n)
To understand Modi & his politics, one needs to put things into context.

For Sikhs to preempt future moves, it's imp to delve into the recorded beliefs of {Hindutva [RSS (BJP) ] }.

Modi joined the RSS at age 8 & turned full-time at 21. Here he's in RSS khaki shorts. (2/n)
Modi at 35 was an RSS pracharak (evangelist) & steeped in its ideology when deputed to BJP, its de facto political arm in 1985.

Then till now, Modi has been close to RSS. "I am proud of being a swayamsevak. The govt is working on the guidelines received from RSS", 2015. (3/n)
Golwalkar:

1. Sikhs who assert their independent identity are anti-Hindu and communal

2. Sikhs are sub-sects of Hindu dharma - (repeats all across the book)

3. All the various sampradayas in the Hindu fold – the Shaiva, Veerashaiva, Madhwa, Vaishnava, Jain, Buddha, Sikh (5/n)
Golwalkar:

4. Sikh sect came into being to contain the spread of Islam in Punjab

5. Guru Nanak and his successors laid the foundation of the Hindu upheaval

6. all Sikhs should register themselves as Hindus (6/n)
A little detour on the main thrust of Golwalkar's arguments on Nazis, Jews, Women, Christianity and Untouchability in his books, read them yourself:

1. A Bunch of Thoughts: (link: https://www.thehinducentre.com/multimedia/archive/02486/Bunch_of_Thoughts_2486072a.pdf)

2. We or our Nationhood Defined: (link: https://sanjeev.sabhlokcity.com/Misc/We-or-Our-Nationhood-Defined-Shri-M-S-Golwalkar.pdf) (7/n)
Also from the RSS pantheon is Nanaji Deshmukh, here with Modi.

Deshmukh outlines his justification for massacre of Sikhs in 1984. "Sikhs invited these attacks on themselves. Genuine feeling of anger"

Modi Govt awarded him the Bharat Ratna in 2019. (8/n)

What about Modi himself on Sikhs?

1. Once Modi recounted a meeting with Dr Manmohan Singh. Surprised by the Dr's cordialness, Modi happened to look at a watch, “ki barah bajne wale the”, a trope against Sikhs many of us have faced our entire lives. (9/n) https://caravanmagazine.in/politics/rss-bjp-sangh-sikh-appeasement-1984
As RSS, empowered by Modi, goes down its laundry list (370, Citizenship Amendment, UCC), Sikhs will have their moment of reckoning. The concerted effort to undermine & diminish the independent Sikh religion is clear.

Narendra Modi's past & present is not lost on anyone. (12/12)
