First, let me say that the electronic voting systems used in the last election were certified by the US Election Assistance Commission. So basically Donald Trump’s government certified them. In any case, there are two types: tabulators and touch screens. 1/
Tabulators require the voter to fill out a paper ballot. It is fed into the tabulator, scanned and the vote is registered. Why is this important. The tabulators counts are used to produce the initial count. Recounts are a hand count of the paper ballots! 2/
They also count the paper ballots to validate the accuracy of the tabulators which have been exact!! The only exception was in a single Michigan county and it was caught and corrected early in the counting process because election officials have an audit process 3/
The audit process is to ensure the integrity of the count. Also tabulators are NOT connected to a network. They can’t upload votes to a server in Germany or any other crap you’ve heard. The recounts counted paper ballots which removed the machines from the process altogether 4/
The Touch Screens were originally designed to help the visually impaired and were accepted for broader use. First, they don’t store the vote. The voter makes their selection and once they’re happy with their vote, it prints a paper copy that’s fed into...wait for it /5
A tabulator!! There are paper copies of every vote and the vote totals are matched between the paper and the tabulators. Again there’s a ton of process built around the handling and counting to ensure accuracy. Some states require signatures which HAVE to match /6
The signature on file. This whole bullshit effort around the voting machines is exactly that, bullshit. They can’t switch votes, they can’t manufacture votes. The machines HAVE to match the paper count. Trump’s own government certified them and the states have /7
Additional certification processrs. The machines and software are sent to independent labs the goverment lists to be thoroughly test (both hardware and software). The test results are published online for all to see. /8
Finally Trump’s lawyers are goibg to get their asses sued by these companies. Fox has already been forced to broadcast retractions because of the stupid claims by Dobbs, Hannity, et al. Sorry for the long thread but this really pisses me off. BTW I’ve been in tech for 40 years.
